Isaac's First Big Boy Bath
Well with the departure of his umbilical cord stump, we were able to finally give Isaac a big boy bath, i.e. in a tub of water. Now the tub was the size of our sink, but it was a tub nonetheless. After all he is the size of a watermelon, so what do you expect?

Here is the video (I hope I avoided the Kibbles and Bits as much as possible, for his own non-embarrassment come high school):

What does it mean to have person in your life who NEVER has predictable patterns of behavior? That is what it is like having Isaac. I will give him some slack because he is not as old as say...Iron Man 2. But the lack of general rules means that he sleeps at odd times for odd lengths of time. Fortunately, both Bianca and I do not have to go to work and my mom, Isaac's Nanna, is here. We have been able to slow down and just watch over our little guy while he grow. Some of the unpredictable things turn out to be really funny.

Last weekend I shaved for the big Father's Day shindig. I love my razor, the Panasonic Vortex with self clearning. It does such a good job for an electric, but sometimes it does too good a job, dicing my beard into tiny bits. Normally I shave leaning over a sink, but this time I was looking at Isaac, getting ready, and doing other things. When I finished Bianca handed Isaac off to me and I cuddled with the little perfect guy while she got ready.

Then Bianca came and got him and instantly noticed that he had a faint six o'clock shadow. And then she pointed it out to me. We both knew he was a hirsute individual, but this was crazy. For about five minutes he just stared at us with his hobo beard. And then it dawned on me. My beard clippings were on my shirt and he was cuddled up to my shirt. Thus the baby with a swarthy soap opera villain beard.

And then there is this picture:

Aw...he's so cute with his big doe eyes.

Yeah that is what he wants you think, while he is pushin' out oatmeal-like poop in the same volume as a Starbucks Venti (whatever that size equals).

These are things they don't tell you about in the pregnancy classes. There is the miracle of birth. But nothing about the craziness of the newborn.

All that said, this kid is so awesome. When he is perfectly quiet and gripping on to you while he snuggles and he looks up with those giant blue eyes, for a second the world stops and he look perfectly content. That makes all of the sleepless nights, surprise facial hair, and angelic poop faces worthwhile.

The Baby Raisin and First Post
Well Isaac's umbilical cord stump finally fell off. It is supposed to happen in the first two weeks, but Isaac was particularly attached to his mommy so he kept it around for three extra days. It was disgusting looking, as you can see here, but it didn't taste that bad at all.

It was sort of a mix between a raisin (in texture and consistency) and a pepperoni (in taste). Just kidding. And for the curious, the umbilical cord has only the baby's DNA, while the rest of the baby stuff is momma's, according to the internet at least.

Here is what the lil' one looks like without the belly button:

It fell off in the process of giving him a bath. Essentially it fell off yesterday and was held on by boogies and crusties until today's bath.

Well, he is no longer a newborn...he is an infant.

Also, he got his first piece of mail address it him. It was a credit card application...no just kidding (that is coming Monday). It was actually his Social Security Card. It is pretty cool to see his name on a letter, knowing that in about ten years there will be few if any letters at all.

Finally, here is a great picture of the perfect guy all snuggled up sleeping:

He is soooo cute when he is sleeping.

Finally, funny Nanna story. So around 4 or 5 every day (though not for the past two days) Nanna lets Bianca and I go take a nap for about two hours and she plays with her boy. Today we woke up and Nanna brought Isaac into our bedroom where he cuddled with his Momma. As he did I noticed that his little belly button was a little goopy. Later, while outside Nanna told me that he had drooled on her while sleeping. I explained that it wasn't drool, but belly button snot. And she thought it was cute.
