It spreads...
Isaac passed along his virus to his Mommy, marking the first time she has gotten sick from him ever (I, on the other hand, have had 9 or 10 ear infections from the little guy).  It is amazing to see just how much she gets done in a day.  Sick Bianca is like twice as productive as I am.  Regular Bianca is like a dozen times more productive.  It is insane.

Last night we tried to put Isaac to bed for the first time ever with Dad doing the last step.  We read stories and Isaac was fine.  We chatted and Isaac was fine.  Then I picked him up to put him in the crib and looked at me and said with a question mark inflection: "Mommy?"  I told him "No I am putting you to bed, buddy."  Then he said with an insistent inflection: "Mommy?"  I assured him "No, its going to be Daddy, it will be okay."  Then he lost it.  I was about to call for Mom when suddenly she appeared through the door.  She had been listening intently to our conversation and was waiting in case something happened.  She came in, put him to bed, and he was asleep within five minutes.

Good kid.  Great mommy.

On the mend
Isaac's fever broke yesterday, but that was a long scary stretch of 100+ degree temps.  He has a bunch of little rashes on his hands, feet and mouth (hence the diagnosis of Hand, Foot, and Mouth), but without the fever he is no longer contagious.  We didn't give him Tylenol at all yesterday and today and no temp, but the sores can be a little painful.  We have a fridge full of specials eats and drinks for the I-man.  With his fever gone he has come back to life a bit.  Wanting to give him something fun to do we went to the local festival and rode some rides.  Here are Isaac and Dad in a fire truck (note Isaac's serious look, as if to say "Dad, we are firefighters now, take this seriously"):

After this we went on a really big slide and I thought Isaac would be scared.  But as soon as it was over he was off my lap and back in line (though not wanting to push him to hard, we went home).  It is good to see him on the mend, even if he has little sores all over.  Everyone gets at least one rash when they are kid--chicken pox, poison ivy, something--it just stinks we had to miss going back to Ohio for it.

Sad News and Sick Kid
After planning for over a year, the Ohio trip was aborted at the last minute when Isaac spiked a fever.  We were going to just power through it when the doctor, who is about the most laid back pediatrician ever (a good quality to temper neurotic parents) said no way to the travel plans.  The past two days have been pretty sad, both because Isaac won't see his Ohio family for a while and because he has been as sick as he has ever been.  Three days of 101 plus temperatures, very little appetite, and particularly un-Isaac whininess has been very tough to watch.  Poor kiddo.

Plans for an Ohio return will be made for sure.

The silver lining has been that Dad and Mom have done nothing but dote on Isaac for two days--much like it was that magic summer when he was born.  It is tough to see him so miserable, but we are fortunate enough to be able to spend four days with him without distraction.
