Isaac's First Career
First, sorry that I have been remiss.  An awesome Nanna visit, which will be a post on its own, was the reason for the delay.  Also, Sarah, there will be a post on the birthday and the cake.

Well, its happened.  It wasn't paleontologist like I had hoped, but Isaac has picked his first career.  With all of his stuffed animals, uber realistic toys, and a library of animal related books, it should have been obvious, but it wasn't.

Isaac wants to be a vet.  Oh if Gretchen Shapiro only knew.

He has started to take care of his stuffed animals as if they were alive, no longer flinging them around as makeshift weapons.  He has gently handed me his stuffed squid, oh yes, they make them, and told me to be careful with the squid (named Jackie Nick).  He often passes England, his Snow Leopard, over to Bianca and instructs her on how to pet her nicely.  He is pouring over animal books and asking me to draw different animals.  I think these are all early stages in the "I want to be a vet" phase.  And if he became a vet, I'd be super thrilled, even if I am not so much a dog and cat person.  I could handle a pet tiger, or his latest taxonomical creation--the Booning Leopard.

Armpits
All of a sudden Isaac has become positively obsessed with armpits.  Yes, you read that correctly--armpits.  He keeps asking who has armpits and if he can see our armpits, to which Nanna, Bianca, and I always oblige.  Today when we went shopping, we saw a picture of a model and she had her arms draped around her face, Vogue-style (like the Madonna song not the magazine).  She looked very alluring apparently, as Isaac instantly commented on her armpit.

Two seconds later he told both Nanna and I: "I like boobies and armpits."

Four year olds say the absolute funniest things in the world.  They have just enough command of the English language to know when and how to say things but not enough to know when NOT to say things.  Overall, it is a perfect combination for non-stop hilarity.

So Sweet
On Monday Bianca arrived at Goddard to pick Isaac up.  She got out of the car and walked inside.  When she came into the building she saw Isaac standing with a much smaller kid, a girl, probably about 2 years old.  He was holding her hand and talking to her.  Bianca paused and listened and it became clear that Isaac was trying to help this little girl fit in.  He was telling her how to find her best friend, reminding her that if someone didn't want to be her best friend, she could just go ask someone else.  He also was telling her that she would definitely find one.  Finally Bianca learned that Isaac had come over to her when she was crying because she missed her mommy and told her everything would be okay.

After that Bianca got Isaac and then went to the room and got his stuff for the day.  They did their leaving ritual and then as they were walking out I-man came back over to the little girl and gave her a hug.  He was so sweet and so kind, it just makes a Dad's heart melt.  There are few things as adorable as little kids consoling each other.  It also makes me proud that Isaac really cares about people around him and has an eye out for new kids.  What an amazing boy.
