World Champion Headlifter and Big Mother Trucker Isaac
This morning Isaac was doing great in tummy time, lifting his head almost completely perpendicular to the ground. It was awesome, given that only a week ago or so he learned to lift up his head. Here is a great picture:

How is that for progress?

Yesterday we went back to Walden Pond for another trip, this time to Heywood's Meadow. It was again, simply beautiful. The Mass people have done a great job balancing the need to preserve the place with the need to allow it to be used. Isaac, of course, took a cat nap through the bulk of the hike. But before he sawed some logs, he and Dad played around in the driver's seat of the Subaru. Here we are (warning: simulated swearing and obscene gestures):

After our Pond adventure we came home and chillaxed. Dad made kebobs on the grill (with Mom's help) using the greatest grill tool in the world for kebobs: Firewire grilling skewers. They were a gift from Nancy and Dom for father's day and we finally have the hang of them. The learning curve is a bit steeper than I thought, but they work wonders.

Once dinner was over it was time for Dad and Isaac to do some drag racing. Dad should have known better because it was around 7:00 PM and his new schedule has him going to bed at 7:30-8:00. We did drag race for about 30 minutes, or until Dad lost his voice. Unfortunately Isaac would have none of it and was in SUPER EXCITED, leg pumping mode for about 30 minutes. I don't think Bianca and I have ever seen him that excited, and stupid Dad got him that way right before bed. A few mobile songs and some dinner, however put him out. He slept until 6:00 AM. Whew! That was a close one. If he wouldn't have gone down, Dad would be in big trouble.

I couldn't think of a better way to spend a Saturday than with Bianca and Isaac, doing what we did.

Meet Nutritious and Delicious
Isaac has officially and definitively discovered that his hands are, in fact, his hands. It happened with his right hand first, so we think he might be right handed (NOOOOOO! His career as a starting pitcher faces its first hurtle). He discovered the hand and then almost immediately stuffed it in his mouth. That was around last weekend or last Monday. Then, Tuesday night he discovered his left hand. It was as if someone told him that he won the lottery AGAIN. We were watching when it happened and it was really funny.

So now we have come to name them. There were a lot of choices out their: Ying and Yang, Great Taste/Less Filing, Starsky and Hutch, Bo and Luke Duke, or even the traditional Right and Left. Not satisfied with any of those names we decided to go with the pair in the title. The right hand is Nutritious. The Left is Delicious. We'll try to catch him chewing on his buddies, Nutritious and Delicious, and snap a pic.

EDIT: Got the pic: Isaac with Nutritious and Delicious

Shoes, Hanging Out with Dad, and Other Big Boy Things
So yesterday it was STILL raining so Bianca, Isaac, and I decided to drive into Boston. We planned on going to our favorite Burrito place--Anna's Taqueria, but the weather made it feel like a late fall day so we decided to get soup instead, from a previously linked place, the New England Soup Factory (a bowl of their chicken noodle, flavor-wise, is worth a pinky).

Despite the bustle inside the place, the cramped quarters, and the fact that he was apart from his mommy for, oh 5 whole minutes or so, he did very, very well. Not a peep, not a cry, nothing. He is a good kid.

After that Dad went to Stoddard's which is the oldest cutlery store in the US (founded in 1800, when Ohio was just 12 years old). It was a total bust, hence no link love. After that Mom wanted to go to her favorite baby store, Magic Beans (previously linked as well). There we got Isaac a pair of shoes. Why? I am not sure, apart from the fact that Bianca LOVES her some baby shoes. Here is a picture of iSaac in them:

Isaac also enjoyed his cute outfit that we bought at the Burlington Mall on Monday. Here it is:

It is not true camo, as the splotches are actually the silhouettes (did you know that word was named after someone?) of dinosaurs.

When we got home there was some horsing around, as Dad got Isaac all geared up, with Dad's favorite small flashlight and pocket knife (safety on, of course). The funny thing is that Woody, my grandfather, and Isaac's birthday buddy, introduced me to the idea of carrying a small pocket knife with you everyday. It turns out to be surprisingly handy, especially when a tiny flashlight is added to the mix. Little did I know that there was a cult of people out there doing the same thing and it had a name. Here he is, all ready to go:

Finally, Isaac decided to be a cool kid and lean up against the door jam all by himself. My hands are just outside of the frame, so he was never in actual danger, but still it makes him look a little older (not that we are trying to rush things).
